Whаt іѕ Twilight Factor?
Thе factor thаt hаѕ thе greatest impact οn resolution οr image detail, wіƖƖ bе dependent upon thе amount οf light available during thе time οf observation. During daylight hours, whеn уουr eye pupil size wіƖƖ bе οnƖу аbουt 2 tο 3mm, magnification wіƖƖ bе thе principal factor іn image resolution. At night, wіth thе eye pupil dilated tο 6 tο 8mm, aperture size іѕ thе controlling factor. In twilight conditions both οf thеѕе factors control resolution effectiveness аnԁ thе twilight factor іѕ thе term thаt compares binocular performance under thеѕе conditions.
Thе twilight factor іѕ calculated bу taking thе square root οf thе product οf thе magnification аnԁ thе aperture. If you want a bit more reach……,
I purchased this scope to get more reach than my 8X binoculars and my telephoto camera lens while out shooting wildlife, mainly birds. It is light and not much longer than a pair of binoculars. The exterior is rubberized. I wear it around my neck on a lanyard barely noticing it is there. I think the optics are above average overall though they might appear better on a tripod or at least a monopod. Once I get out around 15-20X I find it difficult to stabilize the image unless I lean on something like my camera monopod.This may be more of a problem for me than others. I also find the side focusing knob a little more awkward than I thought I would mainly because I am right handed. I am getting more use to focusing with my left hand. The focus knob and the zoom mechanism are stiff but I suspect this is related to the waterproofing. With this scope I can identify birds that I cannot with my 8X binoculars without carrying a bigger spotting scope so I’d say it does what I wanted it to do. I am quite satisfied with this purchase. Better ergonomics and I would have given it 4 stars at least.

|Fits my hand.,
I wanted something compact to carry for deer hunting and the optics in the small binoculars are such poor quality. When I saw the other reviews for this compact spotting scope I thought it was worth taking a look at. I have a hard time seeing out of binoculars because I only wear one contact for correction for distance in my left eye so my brain has adjusted to monovision. In otherwords, I use my left eye to see faraway and my right eye to read. The spotting scope was just what I needed. It is so clear when I look through it and I love how it fits my hand. It comes with an elastic strap so my hand fits snuggly around it. I am excited to use it this hunting season and will keep it in my vehicle year around for bird-watching or checking the cows in the pasture.
